These two prodigious Doodlebugs were built by St. Louis Car Company in 1935 for the Boston & Maine. Their forward 6 wheel Commonwealth power trucks get their kick from twin Ingersoll Rand 400 HP diesels (1140) or a single Westinghouse 800 HP diesel (1141), giving them a top speed of 80 mph and a hauling capacity of a half dozen steel coaches. Facilities include a 15' RPO compartment, 38' baggage compartment and a train heat boiler.
The two have since been reassigned to commuter service out of North Station, Boston. The former baggage compartment now provides magazine service.
